This is the story of my Slimming World Journey or rather I should say " My healthy Pete journey" as it is important to realise that this is not a 'diet' as such, it is a way of eating, of living, of keeping healthy.
Mrs Peter has been going to Slimming World for a while now, she was on it when I met her nearly a year ago, and has made great progress although in May/June things seemed to slow up (no, I wasn't feeding her too much) so I decided to help. I would be in a much better place to help her after all if I was doing and eating the same things. Also I had just reached 16 stone 13 and there was no way I was going to be 17 stone again ! No way ! . (My worst was 18 1/2 stone some years back)
So I signed up to my local Slimming World group and started in earnest.
20 July 2017 was my first weigh-in. 16 stone 13 lb. Just as I had feared but at least I hadn't put on another lb in the last few days. The group was really friendly and I was given a nice welcome... and it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. I bought a recipe book and took in all the ideas that everyone had in the group, this, for me, is a big part of going to SW. Sharing experiences and recipes.
My main concern to my weight was the amount of alcohol I consumed. A lot. Per day. This was I suppose and incentive to cut back as I knew that would help my weight loss, in fact it was that and snacking in the evening that caused the weight gain, I am sure.
Week 2: 16 stone 8.5 lbs .... a loss of 4.5lbs. I would take that thank you ! Tremendous! I was on a roll !
Week 3: Holiday in Cornwall so no weigh in. The temptation of course was to undo all the good work with cans of cider around the open fire and wine with dinner etc... but I was better than that. Marginally. OK, I drank some cider, and some Gin... but a lesser quantity and I made sure that I went for lots of walks to stave off the effects. Oh, and my gazebo blew down and ripped my tent door in two .. but that is a different story !
